Dental Implants

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are used to replace a single missing tooth or multiple missing teeth. They are metal posts that are surgically positioned into the jawbone beneath your gums to act as strong foundations for the replacement teeth that are going to be mounted onto them.

When mounted, they offer extraordinary stability that enhances not only the structure but especially the functionality of your teeth. They also are made to look as natural as your original teeth.

What are the Benefits of Dental Implants?

  • Among missing teeth replacement procedures, they are arguably the best choice because they are permanent and are very well-integrated into the jawbone.
  • Their appearance looks very similar to the original tooth
  • Implants are durable and can last you a lifetime
  • You do not have to worry about them falling out of your mouth because they are extremely stable
  • The functionality of your teeth stays the same or even becomes better
  • You will be able to chew, talk, and even brush normally
  • How long do dental implants last?

Dental implants can actually last a lifetime if they are properly taken care of and if they are well-maintained. Properly taking care of your implants include practising proper oral hygiene and regularly visiting our dental clinic for a routine check-up. The implants, after all, are designed to become a permanent part of your mouth. So as long as you maintain them properly, you will reap the benefits and have beautiful and functional teeth for a long long time.

    Crowns and Bridges

Dental crowns are designed to serve as artificial crowns for heavily damaged or decayed teeth. They are basically what you call a manufactured tooth that is either made of porcelain or ceramic that can match the colour and texture of your existing teeth. Their purpose is to cover the entire damaged tooth to make it stronger and look better.

Dental bridges are recommended for patients who suffer from large tooth gaps because of missing tooth/teeth. The process involves placing one or more artificial teeth between two natural teeth and then the original teeth on each side will be affixed with dental crowns to reinforce the bridge.

Crowns and bridges can address the following dental concerns:

    For crowns:

  • Fractured or damaged tooth
  • Tooth weakened by decay
  • Severely discoloured tooth
  • Misshapen tooth
  • Dental bridge that needs an anchor
  • For bridges:

  • Replacement for missing tooth/teeth
  • Unstable and uncomfortable dentures
  • Complete and Partial Dentures

Complete dentures are for patients who have all of their teeth removed and who will be needing a full or complete replacement. To perform a clean application of complete dentures, some existing teeth need to be extracted. After extraction, you will need to wait for about 8-12 weeks in order to fully heal before the dentures are put into place.

Partial dentures are for patients who want to replace some of their missing/extracted teeth. These dentures are made to go well with your remaining teeth. They rest on a metal framework that attaches to your natural teeth and crowns are sometimes placed on some of your natural teeth to serve as anchors for the dentures.

What are the Benefits of Dentures?
  • Dentures can enhance the appearance of your teeth
  • You get to eat and speak better
  • Dentures can help get rid of some of your damaged teeth that have been causing you pain and other oral health issues
  • Dentures can help you feel and look more youthful
  • Dentures can help boost your self-confidence
  • Bone Grafting

Bone grafting is a surgical procedure that involves taking a piece of bone from one part of the body and grafting it onto the jawbone and is often performed to prepare the jaw for dental implants.

This newly grafted bone builds up the jaw, making it stronger and bulkier, so it is ready for an implant or another restorative dental procedure. Dr. Khattra has been offering these procedures at our clinic for the past 11 years. She has done extensive training and continues to learn and enrich more on advanced techniques utilized for implant procedures
